Battery Sag

Battery (or voltage) sag, if not managed properly, can cause power cut-outs or damage your battery pack. Here, we talk a bit about how we test for sag in the BajaBoard.

The pack being tested is 10S setup. Each pack also has its own BMS.

Instead of relying on suppliers, we run our own tests to determine the sag in various battery states and various operating conditions. These are then implemented into our control algorithms to control power delivery depending on the state of the battery.

It may be surprising to some people that the highest power usage occurs during extreme acceleration. Going up hills at a steady speed does not actually use all that much power comparatively speaking.
